It is clear that President Donald Trump has lived in a comfortable, fully insulated cocoon of his own creation for a very long time. Now that Trump’s cocoon has been moved from Trump Tower to the White House, however, Trump is finding out the hard way that his version of reality is crumbling all around him.
Trump and his flack Sean Spicer have worked hard to present the image that all is well behind the scenes at Trump’s White House, although the many leaks that have come out of Trump’s own staff paint a much different picture. A panicking Trump, still unable to accept responsibility for his own actions, just pointed a finger of blame for the leaks to someone ridiculous.
Trump recently made an appearance of Fox News’ Trump propaganda morning show Fox and Friends to lay out one of his wildest conspiracy theories yet. Said Trump about the White House leaks, evidently with a straight face, “You never know what’s exactly happening behind the scenes. You know, you’re probably right or possibly right, but you never know.” Then he revealed the culprit who believes is masterminding the operation against him. Explained The Donald, “No, I think that President Obama is behind it because his people are certainly behind it. And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, which are really serious because they are very bad in terms of national security. But I also understand that is politics. In terms of him being behind things, that’s politics. And it will probably continue.”
In classic Trump fashion, our 45th President did not even attempt to furnish any evidence to back up his wild claims. He also seems to be entirely in denial about how the fact that his own staff is mutinying might mean that there are serious problems with how he is working as President. Trump is so paranoid at this point the he actually had Spicer seize and search his staffers’ cell phones in hope of finding dirt on this operation against him. Do you think Trump is as paranoid as Nixon?
