49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been making controversial headlines for not standing during the national anthem. He is highlighting issues of police brutality against black Americans, and saying that he won’t stand until this injustice is addressed and rectified properly. And, disappointingly but not surprisingly, plenty of ignorant crybabies have been throwing tantrums over it.
Even the Santa Clara police threatened not to help out at the 49ers games anymore until he stops his protest. So, essentially, when the police are told not to kill people, they turn into pouty babies and stop doing their job. And they wonder why they haven’t earned our respect by default?!
And Obama addressed it, and said that Kaepernick is exercising his right to free speech and protest. “When it comes to the flag and the national anthem and the meaning that holds for our men and women in uniform and those who fought for us — that is a tough thing for them to get past,” Obama said. “But I don’t doubt his sincerity. I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about. If nothing else, he’s generated more conversation about issues that have to be talked about.”
