As has become the norm, America’s current and all time worst President Donald Trump made a buffoon of himself by delivering and inflammatory, likely Steve Bannon scripted speech at the most recent Conservative Political Action Conference.
During this CPAC speech, Trump referred to his friend Jim, who told him that he no longer visits France because, after attacks by radical Islamists, “Paris is no longer Paris.” French President Francois Hollande shot back at Trump in a memorable way.
Hollande called Trump out for not showing support from America’s traditional allies, particularly in the European Union, saying, “There is terrorism and we must fight it together. I think that it is never good to show the smallest defiance toward an allied country. I wouldn’t do it with the United States and I’m urging the U.S. president not to do it with France. I won’t make comparisons but here, people don’t have access to guns. Here, you don’t have people with guns opening fire on the crowd simply for the satisfaction of causing drama and tragedy.” Then Hollande stated about Trump and his Paris-averse friend, “I may send a special ticket to one of them, so that he at least comes to Euro Disney and understands what France is.” Paris Anne Hidalgo echoed Hollande’s sentiments by tweeting, “To @realDonaldTrump and his friend Jim, in @LaTourEiffel we celebrate the dynamism and the spirit of openness of #Pariswith Mickey & Minnie.” Are you glad Hollande and Hidalgo are standing up against Trump?
