You know that Donald Trump is a bad President when he almost makes you feel nostalgic for the days when we had George W. Bush in the White House. Almost.
Dubya, the previous bar-setter for worst American President since James Buchanan, recently appeared with Matt Lauer on The Today Show and had virtually nothing positive to say about Trump and what he’s done.
Bush appeared on the show to promote his new book Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, but Later certainly did not pass up this opportunity to pick Bush’s brain about The Donald. Matt asked Bush if he felt the same as Trump, that the media is the “enemy of the people.” George voiced his sharp disagreement with Trump, saying, “I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy. We need an independent media to hold people like me to account. Power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive, and it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power.”
Bush stated that he had worked to persuade Russian president Vladimir Putin about the necessity of having a free press. Stated George, “It’s kind of hard to tell others to have an independent free press when we’re not willing to have one ourselves,” Bush said. When asked if Trump’s ties to Russia need to be investigated, Bush answered, “I’ve never been a lawyer, so I’m not sure if that’s the right avenue to take, but I am sure that that question needs to be answered.” When asked about Trump’s travel ban and anti-Muslim immigration actions, George responded, “A bedrock of our freedom is the right to worship freely. I am for an immigration policy that’s welcoming and that upholds the law.” Are you happy fellow cretin tore Trump apart like this? Watch below:
