Obama just announced a bold punishment for the Russians in response to Kremlin-directed cyber attacks that interfered with the 2016 America election.
According to the The Washington Post,
“The Obama administration is close to announcing a series of measures to punish Russia for its interference in the 2016 presidential election, including economic sanctions and diplomatic censure, according to U.S. officials.”
President Obama, being the proactive president that he is, already has the ball rolling. In fact, sources reported that efforts are underway to modify a recent Executive Order that gave the president authority to impose tough sanctions on Russia for the cyberattacks.
However, Trump is claiming that Russia’s election meddling doesn’t constitute a threat to the security of the critical infrastructure of the United States.
Therefore, Obama will soon announce the modification to the executive order to add the e-mails of such bodies like the Democratic Party as “critical infrastructure.”
The kicker, Trump picked a man to head the Department of State, Exxon Mobil’s Rex Tillerson, who is so deeply involved in Putin’s Russia that he was recently awarded the highest civilian honor granted by the former Soviet Nation. So needless to say, the Republicans are doing everything they can to stop this.
Moreover, Tillerson also is a key figure in a multi-billion dollar energy deal between Exxon Mobil and Russia. But Obama is not backing down, and he is still is still the President of the United States.
